Oliver at the Park

Earlier this fall, Oliver and his parents joined me (Jon) for a family photo session at Carl Schurz Park in New York City.  We spent the afternoon strolling through this magnificent jewel of a park– spacious green lawns, kid-friendly walkways and a great view of the East River. Best of all, this family was extremely warm and easygoing from the start– especially Oliver. In fact, Oliver spent very little time shying away from me before he repeatedly approached me and offered me to play with his toys. For a little guy just shy of his second birthday, he was really sociable and outgoing.

As you will see in the photos below, a lot of our time was spent blowing bubbles. Lots and lots of bubbles. In fact, Oliver’s mom told me “bubbles” was his first word. I can’t even remember the last time I played with bubbles for fun, but over the last few months I’ve been fortunate enough to have bubbles included in a few recent photo shoots. I must admit…I’ll probably go and pickup a few bottles of my own during the winter months. Hope you all enjoy this latest set!

(And if you’d like to see your family on our blog OR know a family who’d love to have their photos taken, we’d love to get connected via email– info AT dreamlitephotography.com— or, catch us on facebook.)

Ryan + Betty’s Wedding

A few months back, we had the privilege of photographing Ryan and Betty’s wedding.

It is always great to shoot the bride in a place she is very familiar with, as we did most of our shoot at her  alma mater (Rutgers University). We did the bridal party session on Busch Campus. Ryan and Betty’s ceremony took place at the beautiful Kirkpatrick Chapel. We originally worried about the red hued walls of the chapel, but nevertheless everything turned out great. Our bride also chose red brides maid dresses which matched the chapel’s interior very well.

When we photographed the entire bridal party, Ryan and Betty had the great idea of incorporating parasols for the photos. We felt very privileged when we received their Thank You card in the mail– they had used one of the bridal party images as on their card! (see final image)

Congratulations again to Ryan & Betty.

Rowais + Marti Engagement

This past November, we met up with Rowais and Marti for their engagement photos. After days of research, we finally found a place in New Jersey that contained the two elements that they had requested be in their engagement photos: “greenery” and “the beach”… and what place more suitable than at a national park? We were equally surprised to find out that New Jersey had a national park, and best of all it was right along the jersey shore.

Although the weather was chilly and overcast, Marti and Rowais braved the cold with us to explore the wooded forests, venture down winding sandy pathways, and climb atop a few well-worn concrete (former) military structures to get some great photos. Here are a select few of our favorite images… Oh, and be sure to check out the very last image; no better way to end an engagement session than with a phenomenal ocean sunset.

To our friends Rowais and Marti: Congratulations once again and we look forward to your wedding this July.
